The Manual Way of WhatsApp Backup

The recurring backup feature of WhatsApp is going to back up your WhatsApp chat automatically every day, week, or month. But you can choose to back up your WhatsApp chat manually. Your WhatsApp chat will be backed up only when you tap the Back up button.

  • Run your Android WhatsApp again and then tap the More Options button.

  • Next, tap Settings and then select Chats.

  • Open the Chat backup section and then tap the Back up button.

  • Download the latest WhatsApp app on your new Android device.

  • After looking for any backup from Google Drive, choose Transfer from the old device.

  • Accept any requested permission and a QR code will appear.

  • Use your old phone to scan the new phone’s QR code.

  • Accept the connect invitation and the chat history will be transferred.

During the transfer, your both phones should be unlocked and you shouldn’t close WhatsApp apps. Messaging will be paused during the transfer. Users can cancel this transfer process at any time.
