Networking technologies make an exchange of data between small and large information systems. This system is usually used by educational institutions and businesses. Network engineers or network technicians or network specialists are the ones who are responsible for installation and configuration.

Some nodes will connect directly linearly using a common medium. This transmission type works on any two connections, including spatially shared or time sharing.

Users can access every node in the first connection with a separate slot time to converse. And then in the second connection, the nodes will start communicating simultaneously at a time.

3. Local Area Network

Also known as the IEEE 802 network technology. This kind of network technology is using devices like mobiles, laptops, and computers. You should connect the devices in a small range between 100 meters to 10 km.

4. Metropolitan Area Network

This is a type of networking technologies where several LANs join together through a Bridge as the networking device. The LANs then will form the metropolitan area network or MAN.

5. Wide Area Network

When several MANs join together through a route as its networking device, they’re all going to form a WAN. WAN itself comes in two different types.

The first one is the public WAN which is handled by the government division. The second type of WAN is the private WAN which is expanded by the US military departments.

6. Personal Area Network

A PAN is a computer network that allows communication between devices that are close to someone. The network can be a USB or wired but it can also be a wireless network like ultra-wideband, IR, and so on.

The range of a PAN is a few meters only. Examples of PAN is the cell phone headsets, wireless keyboards, barcode scanners, printers, game consoles, and wireless mice. You can use this kind of networking technology for personal purposes.

7. Virtual Private Network

Famously known as a VPN. A VPN starts virtually on a public network, it is communicating and transmits data from connected sender and receiver. A VPN is going to create a secure and encrypted link above the public internet or another network that is less secure.

The VPN networking technology is going to use tunneling protocols to decrypt and encrypt data at the ends of the receiver and sender.
