Run the desktop Instagram app on your laptop or PC.
Then, log into your Instagram account first.
Next, click the profile picture and then click Profile.
Click the Edit Profile button and then scroll down.
In the bottom right, simply click temporarily deactivate my account.
You’ll have to choose the reason why you want to deactivate your account.
Enter your password again and then confirm by clicking Yes.
Before you deactivate Instagram accounts, users need to log into their accounts first. If you cannot remember the username or password, get some help from Instagram to access your account so that you can deactivate your account temporarily.

2. From the mobile browser app

Access Instagram.com and then log into your Instagram account.
In the bottom right of the screen, tap profile picture and then tap Profile.
Since there’s no option to deactivate the account permanently, tap temporarily deactivate my account, the option is in the bottom right of the screen.
Select the reason why you leave Instagram for a while.
Confirm your account deactivation by tapping Yes.
Meta offers some other options to consider for those who want to deactivate their Instagram accounts. For example, if you only want to hide your profile from some people, consider blocking people or setting your profile to private. This way, some people won’t be able to access your posts.
3. From the Instagram app on iPhone
iPhone users can deactivate Instagram accounts directly on their Instagram app. They don’t have to use the web version of Instagram or access their PC or laptop. Below are some steps iPhone users can take to deactivate their Instagram accounts on their app.
Launch the iPhone version of the Instagram app.
Tap the profile picture icon in the bottom right of the screen.
Next, tap the More menu icon in the top right and then tap Settings and Privacy.
Then, tap Account and select Delete account at the screen’s bottom, it won’t delete everything.
Tap Deactivate account and then select a reason to deactivate the account.
Reenter your Instagram password and then tap Temporarily Deactivate Account.
If you want to access the same account, simply login to your Instagram account using the same password and username. All posts, messages, and everything will be back, nothing’s changed from the last time to left Instagram.
